Projection

2-3 Round Day 2

Comparison

Jordan Whitehead Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Adequate size for a safety projection with physical abilities that translate to multiple spots on both sides of the ball. Height/weight have not been verified since summer between sophomore and junior years. Electric playmaker as a dual-threat quarterback. Easy speed with a home run top-end gear. Sudden lateral athlete with dangerous cutback ability and open-field elusiveness. Verified track speed supports on-field juice. Ran a 10.92 100 as a freshman, followed by a sophomore 10.79 and a junior 10.48. Also ran a 21.20 200 as a junior. Highly productive as a passer and runner. Will face a learning curve moving to the secondary full-time. Honing technical aspects of coverage and developing tackling technique/consistency will be key. Safety projection is exactly that -- a projection with virtually no on-field context in the secondary. Nevertheless, dynamic natural athlete with the requisite tools to become a difference-making defensive back whose countless offensive snaps should help with instincts and ball skills. One of the top prospects in Texas for his class with an athletic profile that suggests a very high ceiling at safety. Projects to high-major level with long-term NFL Draft potential.
