H.S. Scouting Report
Evaluated 12/04/2023
Projection
2-3 Round Day 2Big-framed safety with extensive multi-phase experience, ball skills, instincts, and back-seven position versatility in the future. Playmaker with ball production on defense and big-play ability when asked to run routes. Triggers quickly on the perimeter run and screen games. Shows deceleration athleticism and body control when breaking down and gathering to initiate contact. Capable tackler with some obvious pop as a hitter. Covers enormous chunks of territory when asked to play over the top, and will sometimes bait quarterbacks into testing him in that scenario. Has some swagger to his field demeanor. Highly productive, including school-record 10 INTs as a junior, then nine INTs as a senior (plus three defensive TDs). Consistently gets his hands involved at the catch point. Pursuit angles can be too flat occasionally. Might be more of a build-up runner than a burster from a pure speed perspective, but track data -- including an 11.09 100 and near-22-foot long jump as a junior -- reflect impressive overall athleticism on the field. Projects as a possible high-major impact defender who can fit multiple roles in varying personnel looks. Possesses physical traits and athletic profile that suggest significant long-term upside that could lead to strong NFL Draft candidacy.
