H.S. Scouting Report

H.S. Athletic Background

Jones was having a good season, playing both ways for the Hornets when he suffered a dislocated shoulder and was done for the season. He finished with 21 total tackles and six receptions for 208-yards and two touchdowns. As a junior he had 19 total tackles with eight receptions for 135-yards and a touchdown. Jones helped guide Booker T. Washington to the Oklahoma Class 6A-II state title in 2017 and in the championship game win over Bixby, he tallied one interception, 19 tackles, eight pass receptions for 135 yards and scored a receiving touchdown. He was a team captain and all-district selection.

Scouting Report: Jones is a talented athlete that has good cover schools and is willing to play more physical than most cornerbacks. He is good size and there is no doubt his basketball experience has transitioned over to help him football as he was known as an exceptional defender for the Hornets in basketball. He may be a better long ball defender than he is on the shorter stuff, but he is excellent in defending the out route. He can read and jump it. I liked his play on offense as well the past two seasons. Oddly enough, it was one of his positive traits, his desire to play physical and mix it up that may have led to the early end to his senior season and does create a question mark regarding durability. While I’ve seen him in multiple games in person, I have also seen him in practice and there is no question about his effort or his desire to play hard. He will need the weight room and that extra 20 pounds or so he will gradually put on and the muscle should help as well with his durability.
