Projection
4-7 Round Day 3Owns the requisite height with good length to not only provide frame space for bulk addition, but provide a large catch radius. Capable of staying on the field in virtually any down-and-distance situation. Ample experience attached as an in-line tight end and flexed out as a receiver. Shows promising downfield route nuance. Natural, dexterous pass catcher. Length and timing foster high-pointing ability that creates a particularly dangerous red-zone threat. Also displays impressive body control and adjustment ability in contested scenarios relative to size. Regularly shows contact balance in run-after-catch strength. Engaged as a blocker, especially when attached. Flashes impressive block-finishing strength and intensity for a young tight end who plays plenty of other snaps flexed out. Hand placement and effort stand out in the run game. Production appeared to dip in junior season; however, team's season was limited to eight games, so per game production actually increased a bit. All things considered, solid but not elite production over sophomore and junior seasons. Functional athleticism is good, but can still get twitchier and more explosive in initial burst and short-area movements. Very competent blocker but can get punchier at the point of attack. Well-rounded tight end prospect who fits an array of formations and personnel groupings. One of the top tight end prospects in the 2022 class. Projects to the high-major level as a potential multi-year impact starter with long-term NFL Draft upside.
