Reminds Us Of

Jonathan Mingo Carolina Panthers

Devastating offensive weapon who makes plays for his high school team at receiver, running back, and Wildcat QB, accompanied by ample defensive snaps and return game experience. Wins with physical tools, instincts, tenacity, and football IQ.

One of the most dynamic run-after-catch playmakers in the country. Produced astronomical receiving numbers and limited-but-strong rushing totals in sophomore and junior campaigns.

Contested-throw bully. Plays much larger than on-paper size. Very strong hands and a stout-trunked build knock defenders out of his orbit. Not afraid to work the middle of the field and will torture smaller defenders there with physicality and relentlessness.

Violent runner with running back's gait. Open-field galloper with adequate to above average top-end field speed. Realistically could move to a full-time running back role and likely maintain similar standing as a prospect.

Knows how to find open space and leak to it when the play breaks down. Flashes crisp short-to-intermediate route snap to create separation. Understands leverage in multiple situations, whether route-running or setting up defenders in jump-ball situations.

Elite ball-tracking. Regularly makes difficult over-the-shoulder grabs look routine, often with away-from-body hands-catching acumen.

Possesses a strong multi-sport athletic profile that includes high-production basketball competency for a perennial Texas 4A contender. Also owns relays experience. Slimmed down a bit from spring of sophomore year to spring of junior year and showed explosive playmaking ability in elite camp and 7-on-7 environments.

Often overpowers defenders, but is not overly tall or long. Combine testing suggests room to improve quick-twitch athleticism. Field speed is not a weakness, but some more juice likely can be squeezed from the top gear. Possibility of being extremely high-floor but without corresponding developmental ceiling.

Gritty, hard-nosed football player of a receiver prospect who maximizes physical traits and competes at an exceptionally high level consistently. Type of player who could play early at the vast majority of Power Five programs. Projects as a high-major impact player with the potential to develop into a legitimate NFL Draft candidate.

H.S. Athletic Background

Also plays basketball. Three-phase contributor with extensive snaps on both sides of the ball.
Averaged 17.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.1 steals during sophomore basketball campaign.
