Projection

Power 4 Starter

Owns the requisite height with a plus frame to play a skill spot on either side of the ball at the next level. Athletic build with space to add mass. Three-phase playmaker with expansive positional experience at the Texas Class 3A level. Physical tools and athleticism would allow projection to running back, receiver, or the secondary. Entering his senior season, safety seems the most likely landing spot. Terrific ball skills derived in part from high-volume offensive workload. Very competitive in contested situations in coverage. Elevates, high points, and catches the ball like a receiver. Shows impressive ball-in-air adjustment ability both ways. More than willing to crash downhill against the run. Closes well on a target. Startling ability to uncoil and pop in close quarters without requiring much run-up. Strong, well-rounded production on both sides of the ball with consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons as a sophomore and junior. Good functional athlete with a track and field profile that includes an 11.20 100 and a Texas 3A gold medal in the long jump (22-8.75). Full-time move to defense will require considerable technique cleanup in coverage and as a tackler. Occasionally sacrifices tackling technique when hunting for the big hit. Adequate speed but can get faster at the top end. Gears down a bit when redirecting. Will face significant jump in competition going from 3A ball to the high-major level. Owns a great profile for a safety projection as a two-way high school standout with very good production and noteworthy track and field context. Playmaking knack and ball skills could serve particularly well as a center field-type safety. Projects to the high-major level with the potential to become a multi-year starter and perhaps a ceiling beyond college.
