Reminds Us Of

Trevone Boykin Seattle Seahawks

Possesses a stout build and should continue tacking on muscle mass to his frame once he gets in a college level strength program. Could ultimately top out in the 220 pound range before all is said and done. Stars as a two-way player on his high school team, playing quarterback and safety. Athleticism varies relative to what position you're projecting for–sticks out more positively on that front as a quarterback. Is quicker than straightline fast at this point. Is talented enough to legitimately play at several spots at the Power 5 level, including quarterback. Has been one of the more productive high school quarterbacks over the past two seasons within the 2020 cycle. Led his high school to a state title as a sophomore and turned in another strong season as a junior. Has a natural feel for the game with the ability to improvise and make creative off-script plays. While he still has some room to develop from a polish and technical standpoint, he's a natural passer with a live arm and the ability to make a wide array of downfield throws. This is not simply an athlete playing quarterback. Adds a crucial dimension as a run threat, both via designed plays and improvisation. Also highly productive as a safety with high level instincts and anticipatory skills in coverage. Shows some toughness and physicality as a tackler and run defender. Should he stick on defense, it wouldn't be a shock to see him grow into a box defender who has the versatility to play and cover in space. Playing in a smaller classification, he's almost always the best athlete on the field and uses that edge to his advantage. Will need to nail down and settle into a permanent position once he gets to the college level in addition to adjusting to the considerable uptick in the level of competition. Projects as as a Power 5 starter at a few different spots with his upside being contingent on how he develops once he finds a permanent home.
