Reminds Us Of

Jessie Bates III Cincinnati Bengals

Adequately-sized, versatile defensive back with traits that translate to safety and corner. Frame of a bigger corner or average-sized safety. Space to add some bulk in college. Well-rounded defensive back who could move around the secondary as needed. Could play safety, corner, or nickel. Instinctive playmaker from the back end. Plays with a ball-hawking style. Always around the ball. Diagnoses and attacks. Strong tackler with good technique who's unafraid to crash downhill against the run. Provides the big hit when available. Gets low and drives through target. Needs to add bulk and fill out frame to combat bigger, stronger competition in college. Occasionally takes unnecessary chances in coverage. Looks athletic and fluid in person and on tape, but needs to prove hip-flipping ability against college receivers. Honing coverage technique will be key to fully realizing potential. Flat-out football player who is one of the better tackling DB's you can find. Impact Power 5 player with long-term potential to develop into an early-round NFL Draft prospect.
