Projection

4-7 Round Day 3

Owns the requisite size of a high-major QB prospect. Above-average height with a good build. Consistently accurate passer and increasingly so over high school career. Gets the ball out pretty quickly in the short passing game. Excels in short-to-intermediate situations. Consistent overhead release aids accuracy thanks to repeatability. Good pocket feel. Climbs the pocket to step into throws when required. Also shows promising knack for off-schedule playmaking ability. Functionally athletic enough to gain yards with legs but priority is to find receivers when breaking the pocket. Can hit receivers on the move with and across his body. Varies arm angles as needed. Willing to stand and deliver under the gun. Can drop it in the bucket in the vertical game. Winner who led team to consecutive state championships in Texas' largest private school division as a junior and senior. Staggering four-year production with 13,000-plus passing yards and 2,000-plus rushing yards. Consistency in velocity can improve. Takes chances that will backfire vs. college competition. Will face significant jump in competition going from Texas private school ranks to FBS. Seems like a particularly high-floor QB prospect with a lot of polish, but that could also limit long-term ceiling. One of the top 2021 QB's in a loaded class in Texas. Likely a reliable multi-year college starter with potential to reach the NFL Draft.
