Reese Phillips

One of nine Joker Phillips recruits retained by Mark Stoops in his first Kentucky recruiting class in 2013, Phillips graduated from high school a semester early to enroll at UK. During his first semester on campus, Phillips shined in the annual Blue/White scrimmage by completing 10-of-12 passes for 75 yards and one touchdown for the second-team offense. Phillips redshirted during his first season on campus, but the staff spoke openly about being tempted to play him toward the end of the 2013 season as the UK quarterbacks continued to struggle. As a redshirt freshman, Phillips lost the starting quarterback job to Patrick Towles but made his UK debut in the the fourth quarter of the 2014 season-opening blowout of UT Martin. He played in three games as a redshirt freshman.
