The son of the professional wrestler Sting, Steven Borden failed to make the immediate impact he hoped for as a junior-college transfer with just three catches for 63 yards and one touchdown in his first season at Kentucky. Following the graduation of three Wildcat tight ends, Borden quickly seized the starting job during his second spring practice and held that job into the start of his senior season. He showed significant improvement in the 2014 season opener with three catches for 32 yards but did not catch another pass until the season finale. Borden missed three games with an undisclosed injury as a senior.
