Projection

Power-5 Starter

Has added some good weight over the past year or so. Should eventually be able to carry 225 pounds or more. A two-way playmaker that gets the job done on Friday nights as a thicker wide receiver, but is viewed by most college recruiters as an off-ball linebacker at the next level given his ability to cover and make stops in the open field. Initial burst allows him to close gaps and drop ball carriers while in pursuit. Sifts through traffic efficiently and effectively. Understands the basics of how to stack and shed as he works his way into backfield. Can get from sideline to sideline better than most, but seems to be more quick than he is fast. Still, however, a serviceable slot defender for someone his size and is more than capable of hanging with flex tight ends. Will eventually need to cut down on the mistakes and stop over pursuing. That's likely to happen once his focus shifts entirely to the defensive side of the ball. Offensive background is super intriguing as most linebackers selected early on in the NFL Draft these days went both ways before signing with the school of their choice. Likely will need a year or two of seasoning before he's ready to go on Saturdays, but has a chance to become a multi-year contributor and possibly an all-conference type of player for a Power 5 program if everything comes together.
