Scouting Report

Evaluated 01/05/2024

GabeBrooks
Gabe Brooks 247Sports Scouting Analyst

Bigger-framed defensive lineman with experience at a variety of front-line spots, from four-point interior snaps to two-point edge reps. Verified just shy of 6-4 in the 240-pound range in offseason prior to junior campaign. Carries mass quite well and owns above average length. Quick off the ball and capable of winning with hands at the point of attack. Flashes some stack-and-shed disengaging ability that should continue to improve with added mass. Cuts an impressive profile on the field, while still developing core and lower-body bulk, which will aid in phone-booth matchups vs. college-level O-line size. Displays above average pursuit athleticism with some arc-running juice when aligned on the edge. Getting looser through the hips and core will enhance mid-play redirecting quickness. Sometimes plays upright and compromises leverage. Still sometimes able to overcome blocks with strength and motor in those situations. Projects as a P5-caliber defensive lineman who could become a big, traditional base end or bulk into a true interior defender in a variety of fronts. Owns above average physical tools and puts flashes on tape that suggest significant long-term upside.

H.S. Athletic Background

2023: As a junior, logged snaps at multiple defensive line spots, from four-point stances on the interior to periodic two-point edge reps. Dealt with injuries, but still finished season with 36 tackles (16 TFL), 13 sacks, 6 PBU and 2 FF.
2022: Played from the edge and the defensive interior as a sophomore.
