Comparison

Kenny Pickett Pittsburgh Steelers

The type of quarterback that isn’t afraid to take risks and push the limits. Measured roughly 6-foot-2, 185 pounds spring before senior season and has room to add some more mass, if needed. Shouldn’t exactly be viewed as a true dual-threat talent, but is a crafty runner that’s more than capable of finding success and moving the chains on designed runs. Thrives as a passer when he’s on the move and will squeeze the ball into tight windows as he escapes pressure. Serves up a rather tight spiral and will use a variety of different arm angles to execute off-platform throws. A bit of a late bloomer that didn’t become a full-time starter until he was a junior. Found instant success in a RPO-heavy spread attack leading a Nease program to one of its best seasons since Tim Tebow was suiting up for the Panthers as he totaled over 3,000 yards of offense and had a hand in over 25 touchdowns. Will likely need a few years to get adjusted to the speed and everyday demands of big-time Power 5 football, but has the skill set to eventually emerge as a starter on Saturdays. Violate play style could lead to unexpected wins, but could also result in unexpected losses. NFL ceiling given competitive edge and natural feel for the position, but must keep progressing and find ways to limit mistakes.

H.S. Athletic Background

2021: Had a breakout junior season leading Nease to the regional finals in Florida’s second-highest classification. Posted a 9-4 record as the program’s starting QB. Led the team in both passing and rushing yards as he completed just under 60 percent of his passes for 2,672 yards with 22 touchdowns to go against 9 interceptions while also totaling 496 yards and and 6 more scores on the ground.
