Reminds Us Of

DJ Dale Alabama Crimson Tide

A trench bully up front that has eaten up double teams on Friday nights. Measured a shade under 6-3, 300 pounds spring after junior season. Wins more times than not with leverage and leg drive as he forklifts blockers and rumbles his way into the backfield. Can also make an impact with snap anticipation as he will shoot through the A or B gap while guards and centers are still fortifying defensive positions. Has worked primarily as a 1, 2i and 3-technique over the years. Could find plenty of success in a four-man front, but might have the most upside as a true nose in a 3-4 look with his length (blessed with a near 6-foot-10 wingspan). Totaled a combined 31 sacks his first three years at the varsity level in one of the Sunshine State’s higher classifications. Flipped a switch as a senior and started to show more of a motor. Also flashed more lateral range. Will likely need a few semesters in the weight room to get his body prepared for Power Five football, but has the skill set to emerge as a difference-maker in the middle. Ability to rush the quarterback and also defend the run is becoming more and more valuable, especially with some offenses placing an emphasis on balance and not just trying to spread it out and throw it around the yard.
